Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce

Rockford, IL (July 23, 2026) — The Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce invited the Rockford region’s business leaders to welcome Dr. Larry Huff, RPS 205’s new superintendent, as he starts the district’s next chapter as its leader.
This event centered on the critical role our public schools play in supporting the Rockford region’s talent and workforce.
As our business leaders know, our talent pipeline starts in the classroom. This event was an opportunity to engage Dr. Huff directly on how RPS 205 can help ensure students graduating from our public schools see a future — and a job — right here at home, and to understand his goals to approach our talent and workforce opportunities moving forward.
We also heard more about how we as a business community can best support him, our district, and most importantly, our young people.
During the event, the GRCC along with the Boone-Winnebago County Regional Office of Education #4, announced United Way as the first-ever Partner in Education award recipient Multiple nominations came in in support of United Way and its iRead program. The program focuses on boosting early grade reading skills to help children transition successfully from learning-to-read to reading-to-learn.
