|A message from Dr. Ehren Jarrett:
Join Us for a Back-To-School Welcome!
Preparing for the coming school year, finalizing details of the first day of school and meeting with staff, I can't help but be excited to go back to school myself!
This year in Rockford Public Schools, things are different... not just for me, but for the students, staff and community, too. The College and Career Academies of Rockford aren't a pilot program or a concept - they're real. All Jefferson High School students will participate in the Academies, and freshmen at the other buildings will start the high school redesign process. The end goal: Our students will better connect what they're learning in school to college and a long-term career.
I'm thrilled to ask you, a leader in our community, to welcome students back to the first day of high school on Monday, Aug. 26. Please join Rockford Public School administration and Alignment Rockford at the high school of your choice: Auburn, East, Guilford, Jefferson or Roosevelt. Please arrive at your school's main entrance on Monday at 8 a.m., or 7:30 a.m. at Roosevelt, to greet students, so they not only see their teachers and administrators excited on the first day, but they see key stakeholders in the community who are just as excited to be part of the public schools.
This should take about a half hour, and please wear whatever you would normally wear to work.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I'm excited to kick off this school year, and I hope to see you on the 26th.
