The Rockford Chamber would like to thank our website sponsors:

Tracy Richter, 36
AMCORE Bank
Assistant Vice President and
Private Banking
Relationship Manager

By Paul Anthony Arco

Tracy Richter knew at an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in business. At 12, she told her father that one day she wanted to “have an office and wear a suit.” Mission accomplished.

Nine years ago, Richter, 36, took a job as a receptionist at AMCORE Bank and has steadily worked her way up the corporate ladder. Today she is an assistant vice president and private banking relationship manager. Not bad for someone who had no prior banking experience. “Every opportunity I was given, I took,” she said.

The Machesney Park native graduated from Rock Valley College and Judson University, where she became class president. Last year, Richter graduated from the Leadership Rockford class — and was chosen by her peers as one of three moderators to lead this year’s class. The program, Richter said, has proven invaluable. “I really loved being exposed to so many types of leaders, people you wouldn’t get to meet unless you were part of a program like this.”

Richter, who is married, is quite active in the community. She is the board president for the Executive Women’s Golf Association, volunteers for Growth Dimensions of Boone County, serves as a board member of the Friends of the Rockford Art Museum and has volunteered at the Red Cross homeless shelter.

“I like volunteer opportunities where I’m able to help, and it challenges me,” she said. “You do your best volunteer work when it’s a two-way street.” When she’s not busy serving her community, Richter enjoys playing a round of golf with her husband, or a group of friends.
